5. Rebound. This occurs when the ball is blocked, making the players "rebound", or take the ball back.

1. Quickness. Many people think quickness and speed are the same. A volleyball player does not need all out speed, but having quickness is a big advantage.

2. Vertical Jump. If everything else is the same, a volleyball player that can jump higher than an opponent has a big advantage. Being able to leap up to hit a ball prior to your opponent can aid to win many points.

A player that can leap higher will be able to tip and spike the ball over the opposition easier.
